New Number Plates Will be in Use From February, Announces CS Fred Matiangi

The cabinet Secretary in Charge of the Ministry of Interior, CS Fred Matiang’i has announced that the deadline for motor vehicle dealers to produce credentials for new digital registration of the recently introduced motor-vehicle number plates has been set for April 30th.

Personnel who operate garage vehicles, towing trucks, and container freight stations, all of whom have been utilizing special number plates that are generally red in color, will be affected.

“The new special plates for garage operators(KG), tow trucks(KT) & container freight stations(KC) launched by @ntsa_kenya will replace the red KG plates as from February 1, 2022. Motor vehicle dealers have until April 30 to present credentials for fresh digital registration.”Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.  https://t.co/shGNDFsaD5

This happened after the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA approved a request for revalidation of motor vehicle dealers and operators of garages.

According to the top Cabinet Secretary, the decision will help restrict and prevent criminal funds laundered through such businesses to fuel terrorism and other criminal activities.
